Preparing an update of dentalcnc 8 or lower

Workflow Setting up dentalcnc machines.

When updating dentalcnc 8 or lower, the machine configuration must be transferred to dentalcnc 9 during the first connection. The procedure varies depending on the dentalcnc version you are using.

How to update from version dentalcnc 8

You have the following options:

  • Recommendation: You have the data transferred automatically from dentalcnc 8.

  • You can start right away with dentalcnc 9 without transferring any data.

    The machine is still operational in this case as well. dentalcnc 9 replaces the missing data with default values.

    You must enter the following information manually:

    • Tool stock and tool magazine loading

    • User-defined tools

    You cannot add certain missing data. For this data, dentalcnc 9 uses the default values and continues to count them during operation. This leads to incorrect displays. This data includes:

    • Current tool life values

    • Current hour counters for maintenance tasks

    Recommendation: Noe the data from the old dentalcnc version and update the values manually.

    Example:

    You are using a tool with the following values:

    • Maximum tool life: 8 hours

    • Current tool life: 2 hours

    After data transfer in dentalcnc 9 and 1 hour of tool use, the following values are obtained:

    • Displayed tool life: 7 hours (8 hours of maximum tool life – 1 hour of tool use)

    • Actual tool life: 1 hour (2 hours of remaining tool life – 1 hour of tool use)

  1. If you have already started the update process in dentalcnc 9 and the program indicates that the update requires manual preparation, select the Cancel button.

  2. Start dentalcnc 8.

  3. If dentalcnc 8 offers an update to the latest version, install it. Data transfer to dentalcnc 9 may not work with older versions.

  4. Connect the latest dentalcnc 8 version to the machine so that the program can save the current configuration data.

  5. Close dentalcnc 8.

How to update from version dentalcnc 7

You have the following options:

  • Transfer the data with the help of the vhf DCC software. This program allows you to transfer data with just a few clicks via a graphical user interface.

  • You can start right away with dentalcnc 9 without transferring any data.

    The machine is still operational in this case as well. dentalcnc 9 replaces the missing data with default values.

    You must enter the following information manually:

  2. Start dentalcnc 7 and connect to the machine.

  3. Close dentalcnc 7.

  4. Load the DCC (DentalCamConverter) program as a ZIP fileClosed A compressed file which contains multiple other files. Has the .ZIP file extension. ZIP files must be unzipped before use.: Download link.

  5. Extract all the files from the ZIP fileClosed A compressed file which contains multiple other files. Has the .ZIP file extension. ZIP files must be unzipped before use. into a separate folder.

  6. Start DCC.exe.

     

  7. In the application window, select the following icon:

  8. Navigate to the installation folderClosed The folder on your hard drive that you installed dentalcam and dentalcnc in. for dentalcam/dentalcnc 7 and select it. Do not change to that directory.

    Default directory: C:\OEM name\DentalCAM_7

    Example: C:\vhf\DentalCAM_7

  9. Confirm your selection via the Select folder button.

  10. In DCC, select the Convert button.

    • DCC transfers the data.

      • During the process, another program window opens and closes.

      • After the process is complete, DCC displays a message confirming that the data transfer was successful.

  11. If the data transfer was not successful:

To set up a machine that has previously been operated with dentalcnc 6, you will need to contact customer service. Otherwise, your machine will not work with dentalcnc 9.
